INVITATION TO PARTICIPATE

The Balkan Folklore Festival takes place in the city of Edirne and is a side event of 663 – the edition of the – Turkey's biggest Fat Wrestling Festival, which are included in the list of UNESCO for the protection of world intangible cultural heritage, through the held every year in Edirne "Kirkpanar" wrestling tournament. Audiences from all over Turkey and abroad gather in Edirne for the fat fights. Thousands of people of different age groups, cultures and regions travel, to see Pehlivan wrestlers compete for the Kirkpanar Gold Belt and the title of Chief Pehlivan. The Pehlivanis are considered exemplary figures in society with attributes such as generosity, honesty, integrity and adherence to traditions and customs.

City of Edirne /Edirne/ is located in the European part of the Republic of Turkey and is the administrative center of the province of the same name. Located on 50 km from the border crossing Lesovo. Historic city, Edirne is extremely impressive with its authentic atmosphere and architectural landmarks. Many of the cultural and historical sites are related to Bulgarian history. It was the capital of the Ottoman Empire before Istanbul. They call it the city of sultans.

PARTICIPANTS

Participants in the Balkan Folklore Festival are self-made collectives from Turkey, Bulgaria and other Balkan countries. Dancers can participate in the festival, singing and instrumental folklore ensembles and groups for processed and authentic folklore without age restrictions. The folklore program of the group should have a duration 10-12 minutes.

GOALS OF THE FESTIVAL

– to develop the cultural exchange between the Balkan countries; to encourage the creative abilities of the individual; to present the folklore and cultural traditions of the Balkan peoples; to popularize Balkan folklore.

PARTICIPATION FEE

Package price per hourocentury of choice:

–accommodation in hotels 2*- 3* in the city of Edirne and participation in a festivala:

155 BGN. – includes 2 overnight stays in a hotel 2*– 3* with breakfast and accommodation in a double/triple room

225 BGN. - includes 3 overnight stays in a hotel 2*– 3* with breakfast and accommodation in a double/triple room

There is an extra charge for a single room 45 BGN. per person per day.

Accommodation in a double room is subject to availability.

-accommodation at Trakya City Hotel 3* in the city of Edirne and participation in the festival:

175 BGN. – includes 2 bed and breakfast and accommodation in a double/triple room

240 BGN. - includes 3 bed and breakfast and accommodation in a double/triple room

Price for single room on request.

–hotel accommodation West door 4* in the city of Edirne and participation in a festivala:

275 BGN. – includes 2 overnight stays in a hotel 4* with breakfast and accommodation in a double room

385 BGN. – includes 3 overnight stays in a hotel 4* with breakfast and accommodation in a double room

Price for single and triple room on request.

The package price does not include transport to the city of Edirne, parking and personal expenses.

To a group of 25 one free place is placed per person (25 + 1).

Note: The distribution of the groups in the central hotels of the city is carried out according to the order of registration of the groups.

THE PROGRAM at the Balkan Folklore Festival offers :

– 28 June and 29 June 2024 – festival concerts on an open stage in the center of the city of Edirne

– certificates and plaques for the teams

– 29 June, Saturday – A GALA DINNER /upon request/ and awarding the collectives participating in the festival in a suitable restaurant in the city of Edirne - with additional payment.

THE SIGHTS of Edirne: The ancient fortress of Adrianople, Sultan Selim II Mosque, Historical and ethnographic museum, Museum of Turkish and Muslim Art, The monument of architect Sinan, Museum of the Balkan War, the old bridges over the rivers Tundzha and Maritsa, Edirne medieval tower, The city museum of Edirne, Karaagach Old Station, The Lausanne monument, The Bulgarian Church "St. George", The Orthodox Church "St. St. Constantine and Elena", the school of Dr. Peter Beron, Sultan Bayezid II Complex and Museum of Medicine, covered bazaars - bezisteni, etc. In Bulgaria, Edirne is also known as "the city of shopping tours".

REGISTRATION AND PAYMENT DEADLINES

The candidates, who wish to participate in the festival must declare their participation by completing an Application Form for registration by 10 April 2024 year.

Deadline for advance payment 10 % of the total amount 30 April 2024 Mr.

Payment deadline 90 % of the total amount 31 May 2024 Mr.
